Fact Sheet for Journalists: Justice40 Accelerator

The Justice40 Accelerator (J40A) is an independent, not-for-profit collaboration helping community-based organizations on the front lines of the climate crisis successfully apply for funding flowing from the Biden-Harris administration’s Justice40 Initiative. The initiative directs 40% of the benefits from federal investments in climate and clean energy solutions to  “disadvantaged communities.”

Highlights: 

• Since 2021, J40 Accelerator participants have secured $43 million in federal and state funding for community-led climate projects
• Over 80% of the 168 proposals for public funding that were prepared with the support from the J40 Accelerator were successfully awarded
• The J40 Accelerator’s third cohort comprises 50 frontline community organizations developing promising climate solutions and actively seeking Justice40 Initiative funding
